Proverbs 6: 17 - 18 says:
These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: a proud look, a lying tongue and hands that shed innocent blood"Proverbs 16:18 says "pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall"
Makes pride sound really bad, doesn't it. But what's really so bad about pride? Shouldn't we have good thoughts of ourselves? Shouldn't we celebrate our accomplishments?
You see, the celebrations and good thoughts aren't the problem. The problem is that we seek the comfort of doing things without God. Pride can be looked at as trusting our own ways rather than God. It's that attitude of "I can do this by myself" instead of fully trusting God to handle things.
If we think about it, pride gets us into a lot of messes that we then turn around and ask God to get us out of. If we take the time to fully and totally trust Him, His Word and His direction, then we can avoid falling into a lot of traps. '
Can we commit to not let our pride keep us from seeking all that God has for us? Can we commit to not let our pride keep us from allowing Him to guide every step of our way?
When we make those commitments it frees us up to truly see who it is that God has made us to be because we aren't blinded by our pride and the "story" we've created of who we are.
